CALIFORNIA CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

CONCERNS: ALL LIFE/ACCIDENT/HEALTH AGENTS, FIRE/CASUALTY BROKERS AND AGENTS, SURPLUS LINE BROKERS AND SPECIAL LINES SURPLUS LINE BROKERS.

IF LICENSED BEFORE JANUARY 1, 1992:

Must complete 30 hours of Continuing Education during their two-year license period. Agents who solicit long-term care must complete 8 hours in LTC courses.

IF LICENSED AFTER JANUARY 1, 1992:

Must complete 25 hours of Continuing Education for each of the first four 12 month periods, then 30 hours every two years thereafter. Agents who solicit long-term care must complete 8 hours of each 25 hours per year in LTC courses.

Dual license holders may take courses approved for either license type. Existing non-resident licenses will be renewed if the home state's Continuing Education requirements are met. Non-residents whose home states do not require Continuing Education must fully comply with California's Continuing Education requirements. The LTC requirement also applies to non-residents. Courses may be repeated every 24 months.
